Feeder Types – Bottom Feeder

Bottom Feeders could be viewed as the clean-up crew.

Bottom Feeders could be viewed as the clean-up crew.

This is the first in a series on feeder types. We can identify with life in so many ways. This  is just another way of looking at how we analyze and utilize information bytes. Though not intended to be taken seriously, there may be something to their symbolic meanings that touch each of us.

The Bottom Feeder

A Bottom Feeder  chooses to scavenge at the final resting place of semi-digested thought material – that most feeders think is beneath them. This feeder is sometimes looked at as different or a loner because they are critical thinkers. They like to dredge up past and present scandals in minutia not meant to be mulled over in the light. They have a taste for secrets intended to be left alone and unremembered in the dark – that when exposed can cause emotional or physical distress for those who could be affected by those secrets. They are satiated best when raking muck and even more so when given credit for so doing.

The “Value” of a Feed

I love life?... I love it not?

I love life?… I love it not?

I am recalling the song, “Dirty Laundry” by Don Henley, where those who gather and report the news are like one voracious creature who can’t get enough dirt of the seditious variety to devour and regurgitate upon the land of the hungry ignorant masses.

News is a social bridge connecting one perception of reality with another. It is intended to supply our minds with more second hand energy that can be fed upon. Feeds are internal judgments based on perceptions of right/wrong and good/bad. Our perceptions are just that… our own, and do not express what others perceive, although agreement tends to indicate a match. Those “iffy” areas of “grey” are worthy snack feeds. Micro scrutinizing is a conservative way of tapping into the feed flow if you are bored or in a hurry… like sipping at your drink instead of gulping it down.

Catering to a Feed

What's on your table?

What’s on your table?

When I have investigated the rationale for my past behaviors and thoughts – my biased internal dialog about the “whys” I did something – a freezer full of defensive responses came spewing forth to my ego’s rescue. There are reasons for my behaviors, some of which even I can’t believe, but I am willing to defend them, no matter how stupid they may be.

I got to thinking about the feeders, how they eat negatively charged emotional energy like hors d’oeuvres at a party. Now I get a kind of sick satisfaction when the question “why” comes around, because now, I pause to think before I go to defense – taking the food off the table.

Withholding is a bitch!  😀

When I let go of a need to justify myself, I give myself a break from catering a party I don’t even want to attend.
